The Window Covering Safety Council Partners With Design Star Kim Myles Chic and Cordless is In Style Every Season New York, NY (September 23, 2014) – The Window Covering Safety Council (WCSC), a coalition of major U.S. manufacturers, importers and retailers of window coverings dedicated to educating parents and caregivers to only use cordless window covering products in homes with young children, has partnered with interior design expert and TV personality, Kim Myles. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), corded window coverings are one of the top five hidden dangers in American homes, with infants and children dying each year from accidentally strangling in window cords. Do-It-Yourself designer Kim Myles has partnered with the Council to help promote and demonstrate affordable, fun ways in which families can incorporate cordless products into a child’s room while ensuring cord safety. “I am thrilled to partner with the Window Covering Safety Council to help raise awareness around cord safety in the homes with young children, and help families find ways to incorporate style while creating a safe environment for their loved ones,” said Kim Myles, Designer and OWN’s TV personality. “Whether you’re a homeowner or renter, there are several simple ways to redesign your living space so it is safe for kids.” Kim Myles was voted by millions of Americans as the 2007 winner of HGTV’s “Design Star”, and her creative spark ignited her own show on HGTV called “Myles of Style” for three seasons. You can find Kim’s stylish designs on OWN’s Emmy nominated “Home Made Simple” and by flipping through InStyle, Better Homes and Gardens, and People magazines. 2013 Color of the Year.............. EMERALD!!!!! According to Fawn Chang, Exciting Colors! Emerald is a rich, natural, jewel-tone green. Pantone, the world's global color matching leader, announced the color that we are being drawn to need. Based on research and experience, Pantone's experts determine the color of the year from what they see on the runways from designers, in our global economic climate and our social enviroment. Color is medicine and what the world needs now is Emerald. "Green is the most abundant hue in nature - the human eye sees more green than any other color in the spectrum," Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Global Pantone Color Institute, said in a press release. "It's also the color of growth, renewal, and prosperity - no other color conveys regeneration more than green. For centuries, many countries have chosen green to represent healing and unity."

Back to school also means back to a regular schedule. Although we are all sad to see summer go, it is also nice to see our kids get back to a normal routine. Did I just hear all the kids groan? Back to school also means that the holidays are right around the corner. Did I just hear all the parents groan? Yes, I said holidays! Now that the seasons are changing, it's time to change or update your window treatments. Go from Spring/Summer to Fall/Winter designs, styles and fabrics. Or you can even have your window treatments be more holiday specific. Whatever you like, we can help you create beautiful designs that will enhance your homes beauty and decor! With the new school year beginning, please be aware of children walking to and from school and the many, many buses we all will encounter! Let's keep our children safe!
